Description

Who will remember the men who worked — and died — in the Harwick Mine? A small group of former miners and other citizens have made sure no one forgets. In September 2000, after 10 years of planning, they unveiled a simple black granite monument inscribed with a photo taken January 25, 1904, the day of the explosion. Bricks bearing the names of coal miners, family members, or Harwick citizens form a base for the memorial, which is dedicated to everyone who shared in the life of the Harwick Mine.
