Description

Renovated in 1998, Kittanning Riverfront Park has it all — pavilions, walkways, and beautiful views of the Allegheny River. Visitors can use their boats at the new docks and boat launches along the river. Performances and other events are held at the 1,000-seat Murtha Amphitheatre. A river-landing kiosk, developed by Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area, serves as a model of the signage that is available to communities within the eight-county Heritage Area. It tells the story of how the Allegheny River evolved from industrial purposes to its current use as a destination for recreation, and gives information on Kittanning’s history and nearby attractions, amenities, and businesses.
