Description

After serving as an elementary school and office building, the Sherman School was given a new lease on life in 2001. That’s the year it officially became the home of the Victorian Vandergrift Museum and Historical Society. The former four-room schoolhouse now offers visitors lessons about the town’s rich industrial heritage through its display of artifacts and photographs donated by residents, along with a bird’s-eye model of Vandergrift made by one of the Society’s members. School photographs, yearbooks, and uniforms lead to reminiscence about Vandergrift’s past. For more extensive research, a genealogy library is located on site.
