Description

Learn about the Connellsville’s historic past in coal and glass while visiting the Youghiogheny Station Glass Gallery, where locally crafted, blown-glass figures, also called “off-hand” art glass, and rippled stained-glass sheets vie for the eye. Housed in the old Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad station, the Gallery is the retail outlet for the Youghiogheny Opalescent Glass Company and the Youghiogheny Art Glass studios. The Gallery highlights the work of regional and national glass artisans. Preserving many of its original features from Connellsville’s heyday as an industrial center – the ticket office, departure board, lighting fixtures, and wood and marble – the station is a registered site with the National Register of Historic Places.
